Gourmet Cooks

March 29, 2010

LADIES OF SOLON SPRINGS
We know there are great cooks out there, and there are definitely
recipes that have been handed down from generations. While we
all come from different backgrounds, GOURMET COOKS is a group
of local cooks who truly enjoy cooking, but also finding new and
varied recipes to share.
Once a month, a theme or country is chosen, members find recipes
in their category (soup, salad, dessert, etc.), and make the recipe.
The recipe is printed on index cards for other members who try it,
like it, and want to make it for their families.
The meetings are fun-filled with tasting, hints, and ideas galore.
Please contact Arleen (715-378-4429) or e-mail: asnorthwoods@
centurytel.net and join our group.
You will find a treasure cove of family treasured recipes as well as
tasting some of the food prepared by the greatest cooks in
Wisconsin.

Anglers flock to the Brule for steelhead opener
By Joe Cadotte and photojournalist Nathaniel LeCapitaine, FOX 21 News
BRULE - Avid anglers in Northwestern Wisconsin got their feet wet today for the first open-water fishing opportunity of the year. Temperatures in the 40s attracted hundreds of anglers to the banks of the Brule River for the annual steelhead opener. “I've been preparing for this for two months. And I was fishing a month ago on the ice,” said Dominic Ackerson of Solon Springs.
Ackerson has been fishing for more than 25 years. He said he like the “relaxation of it, [and being] anxious to see if you're going to catch anything or not." The annual steelhead opener is usually a winter wonderland, with freezing temperatures and snow. Anglers are grateful for the warmer weather this year.
“Being able to start fishing for the year and the cold is gone and you get to try to get a fish in the real water for once, that's always nice,” said Maria Ackerson of Solon Springs. Whether fishing from the banks or in midstream, anglers taking part in today's opener continued a decades old tradition on one of the region's best known...

Bring Super Fast Internet to the Duluth Superior area

The transformation of our economy - a call to action.
Your help is needed!  By investing just a few moments of your time,
you'll be part of an incredible transformation of our regional
economy.
We're out to convince Google to build an ultra-high speed fiber network
in the Twin Ports.  This system will bring fiber-optic connections to
every home and business at speeds of one gigabit per second, up to 1000
times faster than existing "high-speed" Internet connections.

This changes everything.
It changes our economy, it changes how we do business, it puts Duluth
and Superior at the forefront of the next great economic revolution in
America.  And yes, you'll be able to download an entire HD movie in 30
seconds.

Could it really happen?  Absolutely.  We fit Google's criteria
extremely well and we believe we have the most comprehensive campaign
in the nation.  Ultimately, our success depends on the participation of
folks like you.
Our success depends on YOU taking three simple steps:

1)      Go to www.googletwinports.com and join the team.

2)      There you can create a free Google account
